Firstoff, let me say that I have never given given a review like this on ANY product on ANY marketplace site. Some of the recipies in this book have dangerous Water/Lye ratios. #44 Gardent Mint Soap. 10oz infused mint water and 9oz. of lye... almost a 1:1 ratio! Another says to use boiling water with the lye...only later it says to cool the water first. Someone new to soapiing could be maimed, blinded or even killed. There is only one mention of how to mix the lye and water and that is within one recipe. No mention of safety glasses or gloves etc... I'm glad it was only .99cents. I have removed it from my tablet for fear that someone else could try to use it and hurt themselves. I dont want to be responsible for that.

50 Best Homemade Soap Recipes edition by Kate Hilton Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
A lot of melt and pour and duplication of recipes with different scents. Nothing new under the sun. Also needs editing badly.
Though it does have lots of recipes, the book is not well written. Definitely not good for the beginner soap maker. Lots of recipes using difficult to find ( at least here in AK) and expensive oils. Also uses warm method of soap making for many of the recipes, which is not a beginner thing to do. Can not recommend this book.
Love it!

Great information, tips and ideas
I just purchased this book...the first time I've done this without reading the reviews...BIG MISTAKE! I did "look inside" though at the contents list....if there had been at least a cross section of two or three recipes it would help make a more informed purchase. I would not give this book any stars if Possible, and wish I could get a refund even though it's only 99 cents. There were a few complete recipes, but instructions were almost non existent. The rest of the so-called recipes left a lot to the imagination and I have been making soap for years. I didn't even bother running anything through a lye calculator....I can see already this is one book I will be deleting.
First recipe ran through a soap making calculator is so lye heavy it is downright dangerous. 150 ml of coconut oil and 150 grams of lye? Reliable soap calculators show it should only be 25 grams of lye for that amount of coconut oil. And vegetable oil is listed through out the book for recipes. Every type of vegetable oil takes a different amount of lye to saponify it and giving a general term of 'vegetable oil' is ludicrous since your vegetable oil may be totally different from my vegetable oil. If you take the most common vegetable oil available in stores which is soybean oil at the amounts given again they are so lye heavy it can cause skin burns. 150 ml of soybean oil needs only 18.7 grams of lye to make soap. At the author's recommendation of 150 grams of lye the soap is suitable to wash anything as it will do damage to it.
